TCEQ to Examine Odors in Ellis County
A petition was filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) (Docket No. 2013-0939-RUL) (http://www.tceq.texas.gov/assets/public/legal/rules/rule_lib/petitions/13033PET_petex.pdf) on behalf of landowners and citizens of Ellis County requesting an amendment to 30 TAC Chapter 312, Sludge Use, Disposal, and Transportation to prohibit land application within 3 miles of a city limit in a county with a 140,000 or more if it is located adjacent to a county with a 2-4M population. On June 18, the TCEQ Commission instructed the Executive Director to examine and initiate rulemaking to address odor issues at “bulk sewage sludge land application sites.” Also see, “Special Report: Biosolids in Ellis County” at http://www.waxahachietx.com/news/ellis_county/special-report-biosolids-in-ellis-county/article_5cf68c0f-6639-5d3f-a129-7d62dc0787ff.html.
