FDA Request for Comments on Untreated Biological Soil Amendments of Animal Origin

To assist the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with informing produce safety policy decisions, the agency is requesting comments and scientific data.  FDA is developing a risk assessment for produce grown in fields or other growing areas amended with untreated biological soil amendments of animal origin with an aim of quantifying the risk of human illness by produce grown in fields potentially contaminated with enteric pathogens (such as Salmonella).  Comments should be submitted by 03-MAY-2016.  See “Risk Assessment of Foodborne Illness Associated With Pathogens From Produce Grown in Fields Amended With Untreated Biological Soil Amendments of Animal Origin; Request for Scientific Data, Information, and Comments,” https://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=FDA-2016-N-0321-0001
