Introduction of S. 2673 Highlights Resource Recovery from WRRFs

On March 14, Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) introduced S. 2673, the “Water Technology Acceleration Act of 2016.”  If passed, the bill would amend the Federal Water Pollution control Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act to, in part, advance “resource recovery in water and wastewater treatment systems, including energy conservation and production; water reuse and recycling; and recovery of valuable materials.”  Additionally, $100,000,000 in funding for innovative technologies for each fiscal year is to be made available to assist in carrying out this work – this is in addition to any other funds made available for carrying out any other provisions of the overall Act.
