Ellis County Rule-Change Petition

A stakeholder meeting held as the result of a rule-change petition filed with the TCEQ by  a rural Midlothian resident would prevent farmers from applying biosolids within three miles of city limits.  Many farmers were present at the meeting to provide comments on the benefits of land application of biosolids.

A resident who oversees a ranching operation that spans Ellis, Kaufman and Navarro counties, noted that the use of biosolids saves millions, and that recent soil testing on grasslands indicated a nutrient value worth $473 an acre as a result of the biosolids.  Others agreed that the economics were sound.
