City of Raleigh maintains Platinum Certification
The City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department recently underwent an audit to maintain Platinum Certification at the Neuse River Resource Recovery Facility in Raleigh, NC.
Marti Gibson, Environmental/EMS Coordinator for the City of Raleigh Public Utilities noted that “Having a certified Biosolids Management Program far outweighs the costs involved with implementation and audits. Obviously there are tangible benefits but the intangibles realized are priceless. It becomes a lifestyle change that promotes more openness, transparency and continual improvement, which is realized through increased credibility with both stakeholders and regulators, It offers the ability to rise from a devastating event to once again return to a place of prominence with regulators. Staff better understands their role and the impact their job has on protecting the environment. Obtaining certification creates the positive perception that protecting the environment is the top priority.”
The audit company expressed that members of the EMS Team work well together and provide an excellent way to understand, communicate and improve the management system. See the attached audit for further details. Report – NRRRF Biosolids Interim audit 03-31-16
